Advantage Guide To Easter Weekend

Toronto may be one of the most beautiful cities in Canada, if not North America. It is the perfect mix of urban culture and down-home roots, parks are around every corner and amazing food from around the world is sold on every street. There is no better place to spend your Easter Weekend than Toronto and the GTA, there is so much going on in the city that you may have a hard time choosing what it is you want to do!

The Center Island Easter Egg Hunt

What’s Easter without an Easter Egg hunt? Toronto’s iconic Center Island is open for a preseason family adventure. Collect brightly coloured eggs hidden around the island and redeem them for amazing prizes. Hunt for eggs, ride the rides and get your face painted at this family friendly event.

Tickets are $15 and include your fairy ride! The fun starts Friday, April 14 and ends on Sunday the 16.

Toronto Beaches Easter Lion Parade

For 51 incredible years, the Lions Club of Toronto has been putting on the cities only Easter parade. Starting at 2:00 pm on the 16th the parade runs from Queen at Monroe Park to Woodbine Avenue and runs for about 2 hours. Be sure to get there early if you want a good seat.

While you’re in the area why not head over to the Scarborough Bluffs, the majestic cliffs and kilometres of walking trails will have you feeling like you were transported to the east coast.

Head To Riverdale Farm

Did you know there is a fully operational farm in the middle of Downtown Toronto? Nestled in the heart of Cabbagetown lies Riverdale farm, open all year long visitors are encouraged to follow the farmer along on his daily chores at 11:30 am Saturday and Sunday.

Visit the farmhouse, the Simpsons Barn and the pig and poultry barn to get a taste of what farm life is really like.

Be sure to check out the Old Zoo Ruins, the Riverdale Zoo was in operation from 1894 until 1974 when the Metro Zoo opened in Scarborough. Not much is left of the old buildings but it is certainly worth checking out a piece of Toronto History.

Buy A Piece Of Toronto History

While you’re at Center Island with the kids head on over to the bike rental station and bid on a piece of Toronto

history. The city recently granted a new contract for the bicycle rentals on the island and all the old stock is going up for auction. Bicycles will be starting at $75 Tandems for $100 and Quadricycles start at $500.

Not only are these prices much cheaper than if you were to buy them retail but it is also a piece of the city’s history that you can take home with you.
