Bracebridge Fire And Ice Festival


Located just over 2 hours outside of Toronto, Bracebridge, Ontario holds their annual Fire And Ice Festival. More than just a catchy name, the Fire and Ice Festival promises lot’s of family fun with fire artists and bonfires lining the streets (The Fire) as well as beautiful ice sculptures and Skating Trails (The Ice). The best part of all is the snow tubing right in the middle of downtown! This all takes place January 28 in downtown Bracebridge, this is a can’t miss for anyone with small children.

Ottawa Rideau Canal Skateaway


The Rideau Canal in winter is surely a sight to behold, 7.8 kilometers of ice skating stretching from downtown Ottawa all the way to Dows Lake. All along the sidelines of the canal are restaurants and food trucks and coffee shops and warming stations and the best part is you don’t even need to take your skates off. An estimated 19,000 people come from all over the world to skate the Rideau Canal every winter. If skating isn’t really your thing, check out Winterlude a three week long festival starting the beginning of February celebrating winter.<



No Ontario winter getaway list would be complete without mentioning the winter haven , Collingwood, There is so much to do in Collingwood during the winter we could fill a whole other list. There are cabins to rent for romantic weekend getaways numerous spas and ski hills if your looking for group activities. For the adventurous there are trails and caves and caverns to explore with guided tours as well as a 420 foot suspension bridge  suspended 25 meters above the woods offering breathtaking winter views.
